NOTEBOOK
July 18
Farm All-Stars top Riverview, 15-6 (Zelienople Harmony Tournament) - BHAA fired up its offensive machine tonight, bursting to life after two sluggish innings to put up five runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings and clinch an opening-round victory in this weekend tournament. Malcolm Bowman grabbed the game ball for strong defensive play, helped along in his efforts by Jordan Albright and Luke Calderaro.

July 13
Farm All-Stars earn third place at Brookline Tourney - BHAA jumped out to a convincing lead early, hoping to avenge yesterday's loss to the same Brookline team. But the lead fell away at mid-game and Brookline went on to win 16-9. Luke Calderaro was named game MVP. Later on, Ethan Khoza, JJ Younger, and Antonio Mitchell stayed behind to represent the team in the homerun derby. Younger placed second, and the threesome accepted the team's third place tournament trophy.

July 12
Farm All-Stars split games at Brookline Tournament - BHAA youngest ballers were on the road all day, dropping a 2 p.m. game to hosting Brookline 18-6. Hits that would go for extra bases in almost any other game were gobbled up by Brookline's exceptional outfield. But the evening was a different story, as BHAA unleashed its offensive machine to defeat Sheraden 29-7. Marques Duncan was voted game MVP by opposing coaches for strong defensive play. The team returns for a rematch with Brookline at noon tomorrow.

July 11
Farm All-Stars lose offensive battle with Thomas Jefferson, 23-13 - Although BHAA was down by 12 runs at the end of the second, the squad did not quit, putting up 12 runs over two innings at mid-game and drawing the score to 17-13. Thomas Jefferson, however, piled on some insurance runs late. JJ Younger earned game MVP honors for his three-run inside-the-park homerun.

July 10
Farm All-Stars prevail over Baldwin, 10-3 - BHAA's youngest baseballers brought their game tonight to the Brookline Tournament, playing smart defensive baseball and piling on the hits for a first-round victory. Luke Calderaro and Ethan Khoza performed nearly flawlessly in the infield. Tazmon Wilson was granted MVP honors by tourney staff for a pair of diving grabs in right-center that held would-be extra-base hits to singles and stifled Baldwin's offense. The team returns to Brookline tonight to take on a very tall Thomas Jefferson squad.

June 29
Farm All-Stars top Brightwood, 15-8 - The All-Stars fell behind 8-4 early before launching an offensive barrage and putting 11 runs on the board. Isaiah Brazil received the game ball from opposing coaches for an inside-the-park homerun. Jordan Albright performed well defensively. Not at single all-star has struck out in the tournament. BHAA was set to play Sto Rox at 6 p.m., but after three hours of waiting out the rain, tournament officials called it a day.

June 28
Farm All-Stars fair respectably in skills competition - Results from the Skills Competition are in and, for not ever having competed in something like this in the past, BHAA fared well. Though neither Antonio Mitchell nor Luke Calderaro hit a homerun in the homerun derby (mostly due to seeing Coach Bees' pitching for the first time ever) no other farm leaguer hit a homerun either. BHAA (represented by Jordan Albright, Isaiah Dean, Calderaro, Justin Bees, Ethan Khoza, and Marques Duncan) narrowly missed being invited back to the finals of the Slickest Infield competition, finishing fifth in a field of eight teams by a small margin. BHAA should be quite proud of its fleet-footed representatives in the Fastest Team competition. The team of Albright, Khoza, Calderaro and JJ Younger finished third in the initial round with a combined time of 60.006 seconds, less than one second behind the first place team from DeHaven. That means that these four guys have been invited back to compete for the title against the other three fastest teams.
