July 27 Junior All-Stars top Bethel Church, 5-3 (Dormont Tournament) - Seth Welch was named game MVP in this victory, which clinched third place in the Dormont Tournament and brought a positive close to the Junior All-Stars' season. July 23 Junior All-Stars top Castle Shannon, 12-5 (Dormont Tournament). Matthew Miller was named game MVP in BHAA's second victory in this round robin tournament. Results of games on Thursday and Friday will determine whether BHAA competes in the tournament playoffs on Saturday. July 22 Junior All-Stars fall to Greentree, 21-2 (Dormont Tournament) - Nick Nyman was named game MVP in this game that dropped BHAA's tourney record to 1-2. July 19 Junior All-Stars top Dormont, 6-5 (Dormont Tournament) - PJ Winters received MVP honors as BHAA's Junior All-Stars spoiled the home team's start at the Dormont Tournament. They return to face Bethel Church at 4 p.m. today. July 18 Junior All-Stars top Mt. Lebanon, 10-3 (BHAA Tournament) - BHAA clinched third place in its tournament tonight by finishing off Mt. Lebanon. Nick Nyman received the MVP trophy for strong play throughout the tournament. July 16 Junior All-Stars' rally falls short in 12-11 loss to Sto Rox (BHAA Tournament) - Again, the Junior All-Stars got out to a slow start, falling behind by five runs to a tough Sto Rox squad. But they did not go down without a fight, staging multi-run rallies in both the fifth and sixth innings to get Sto's blood pumping. With the bases loaded, the tying run on third, and two outs in the sixth, Nick Nyman did what a clean-up hitter is supposed to do: He sent a solid shot sailing toward the centerfield fence. A roar erupted as it seemed obvious that BHAA would not only tie it up, but also take a lead. But it was not to be, as Sto's centerfielder dropped back as far as he possibly could and extended his glove to make a circus catch and shut down the rally for a 12-11 victory. Sto advances to face Braun Jeffery in the 10u championship on Friday, while BHAA will take on Mt. Lebanon in the 10u consolation game. July 14 Junior All-Stars top Mt. Lebanon, 15-5 (BHAA Tournament) - Billy Sinagra, Nick Nyman, PJ Winters, and Brandon Notaro led the offensive charge for BHAA. Sinagra grabbed the game ball for his efforts on both sides of the ball. July 12 Junior All-Stars fall to Braun Jeffery 10u, 11-8 - The Junior All-Stars put together a late six-run rally, but it was too little too late to overcome Braun Jeffery's lead. They will rest a day before meeting Mt. Lebanon on Monday night. July 11 Junior All-Stars fall to Sto Rox, 13-9 - The Juniors kicked off BHAA's tournament in style by jumping out to an early 5-2 lead before getting into walk trouble and surrendering four runs to Sto in the third. Offensive surges changed hands the rest of the way, but BHAA could not catch up. Phoenix Rouse was voted game MVP by Sto's coaching staff. | |||
