BHAA All-Star Selection Process
Brighton Heights Athletic Association began its 2010 all-star team selection process on June 1. Head coaches distributed All-Star Nomination Forms to all players and their parents. This form outlined the expectations of players selected to our all-star tournament teams. To be considered for all-star play, a player's parents must have submitted a completed nomination form by June 7. This form required review by and signatures from parents and players both.

However, completion of this form did not guarantee a player selection to an all-star team. This form merely informed our coaches which players and families were committed to be available for the entire tournament season, which runs through August 1.
There also is a $39 uniform fee required for all-star play, and parents are asked to serve in volunteer roles during BHAA's tournament in late-July.

All-star teams were selected from among nominated players by the coaches in that division. For instance, farm league coaches made nominations of players from their respective teams, reviewed which players submitted all-star commitment forms, and worked with their fellow coaches to field the best possible teams based on skill and sportsmanship. There was no tryout. Players were be selected by coaches based on regular-season performance and attitude. Tournament coaches, with support from league leadership, made final player selections.

BHAA has fielded all-star teams in the following divisions/age groups:
  • Farm League Baseball (head coached by Franklin Rouse)
  • Junior Little League Baseball (head coached Mike Albright)
  • Senior Little League Baseball (head coached by Bill Sinagra)
Not enough players expressed interest to form an 8u softball team, and ethics and procedural violations by coaches and parents prevented BHAA from forming a 10u softball tournament team this season. Any softball teams made up of BHAA players traveling to tournaments are not sanctioned by BHAA.

Our baseball tournament teams will play in BHAA's tournament in late-July, as well as travel to two other tournaments.
Player EligibilityParent CommitmentUniform Fee
Players who meet the age requirements of each division and who are in good standing with BHAA are eligible for consideration for a BHAA all-star team.
Parents of BHAA All-Stars are required to provide volunteer time and support to BHAA's tournament in late-July. This massive undertaking requires participation from all. A $39 uniform fee is required of each player selected for a BHAA all-star team. BHAA pays the entry fees for our teams to participate in tournaments, but requires uniform costs to be covered by parents.
